About Us
The Officer Michael Thomas Kominsky Sr. Scholarship Fund is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in memory of a man who gave nearly three decades of service to his hometown.

Mike was more than a police officer—he was a father, a mentor, a friend, and a constant presence in the West Bridgewater community. Those who truly knew him knew the man behind the badge—the one who could make you laugh, show up when it mattered most, and quietly make a difference without ever asking for recognition.
Our foundation exists to carry that spirit forward.
Rooted in family, community, and service, we are committed to creating opportunities for students who feel the same calling Mike did—to serve others with integrity and purpose.

Our Mission
Our mission is to honor Officer Kominsky’s life by supporting graduating high school seniors who aspire to pursue careers in law enforcement and criminal justice.
We are committed to:
•Keeping Mike’s legacy alive through meaningful impact
•Supporting students with a true desire to serve—not just academic achievement
•Removing barriers by offering scholarships with no GPA requirement
•Encouraging integrity, compassion, and leadership in future public servants

We believe character matters more than a number.
Our Story
Officer Michael T. Kominsky Sr. served the West Bridgewater Police Department for 29 years, following in the footsteps of his father, a former Chief of West Bridgewater. He grew up on the very streets he would later patrol—playing basketball, fishing at War Memorial Park, and building lifelong connections within his community.

He wasn’t just protecting a town—he was protecting home.
In 2024, Mike lost his battle with Acral Lentiginous Melanoma at the age of 51. In the midst of unimaginable loss, his family chose to create something meaningful, something that would ensure his name, his values, and his impact would never fade.

And in what can only be described as a blessing in disguise, within one year of Mike’s passing, his children—Michael Jr and Madison—fulfilled one of Mike’s greatest wishes: making him a grandfather of
Michael III and Grayson James, who are an everlasting continuation of Mike!

Even in loss, he left behind life.

This foundation stands as a testament to that legacy—one that continues to grow, give, and guide.
